People – including myself – seem to be spending so much time sticking up for game shooting these days, promoting the (many) advantages and merits of the sport time and time again.
But let’s just pause right there – why? Why are we working so hard to argue our case and stand up for shooting? We have nothing to stand up for…
Let me explain: to defend a case suggests it’s up for persecution (and negotiation). Well this is not in my eyes, sorry to all the vegans and veggies and antis, but we have nothing to be ashamed of. It’s not illegal, it’s not cruel or inhumane, and it has a massive following (for want of a better word) across the entire globe.
The unfortunate truth, however, is that I will. No doubt I will feel the need to keep up the defensive, with my worn out list of benefits and tired open minded acceptance. Perhaps one day we won’t need to pull our pro-shooting scripts out our gunslips with the whys and what fors, but until then, I guess we’ll just have to keep it up and keep on aiming for those high birds.
